The Plough Youth Theatre Present a 'Beauty' of a Musical

The Senior Plough Youth Theatre based at the Plough Arts Centre are nearing the end of rehearsals for their latest offering which promises to be their biggest and best production to date. Following the sell out success of 'Oklahoma!, last July the 58 strong company aged between 13 and 19 years are preparing to wow audiences again as they present the South West Amateur Premiere of 'Disney's Beauty And The Beast'. This enchanting musical with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and music by Alan Menken and book by Linda Woolverton is one the whole family will enjoy. With its Academy Award winning score including the show stopping number 'Be Our Guest' and the heart warming title song this production should not be missed. Director Rob Pudner commented, "The Youth Theatre have been delighting the young and old alike with their performances for seven years and this, their 14th production to the general public will certainly be no different. We are all very excited to be one of the first amateur companies in the country to mount this spectacular production. We are so grateful to our team of willing volunteers who are assisting with the making of costumes. With up to three costume changes for each of the cast members, this is the biggest challenge yet!" Rob is again joined by Assistant Director/Stage Manager Sarah Pester, Musical Director Alan Boxer, Choreographer Helen Venn and Designer Pippa Jenkins who will bring to life the fabled Disney magic, charm and enchantment.
Performances run from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th February 2010, with performances each evening at 7:30pm and a Saturday matinée at 2:30pm. Tickets are available from The Plough Arts Centre Box Office on 01805 624625; book early to avoid disappointment.
This amateur production is presented by permission of Josef Weinbergerltd on behalf og Music theatre international of New York.
