Cherubeer
Open Gardens
The three gardens
in the hamlet of Cherubeer, 2 miles east of Dolton and 8 miles south east
of Torrington, will be opening for the charity, The National Garden Scheme,
on Sunday 31 January and Sunday 7 February from 1 - 4 pm.
The gardens have many spring flowers and shrubs including a collection
of over 150 different named forms of snowdrop, a National Collection of
Hardy Cyclamen and many single and double forms of Hellebore. Due to the
temperament of the weather it may be wise to phone before setting off
just in case the gardens are under snow.
All three gardens have different appeals but beautiful flowers are a common
theme throughout. Entry price is £3.50 for the three gardens. There
will be hot soup at lunchtime and home-made teas available. There will
also be plants for sale, including named snowdrops and cyclamen.
The hamlet of Cherubeer is 2 miles east of Dolton village at the top of
Aller Road.EX19 8PP. Take the "Stafford Moor Fisheries" turn
off the Dolton Beacon to Winkleigh Road. Tel: Jo and Tom Hynes, 01805
804265.
The National Garden Scheme was founded in 1927 and raises funds by opening
gardens to the public. Last year in Devon over 160 gardens, most of which
are privately owned and only open for the NGS, raised over £100,000
for Macmillan Cancer support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices
and many other deserving causes. For further information about Cherubeer
