Torrington
W.I.
The 1st
Women's Institute in Britain opened 95 years ago this year, and having
always moved with the times, on 1st January 2010 the NFWI launched a brand
new Logo. We like it! Hope you do too.
Torrington WI's next full meeting is on Wednesday 10 February at 7pm.
when David Kennard will be our Speaker - "With Sheepdog and Films".
The venue is Torrington Methodist Church Hall and prospective members
are welcome to come along and find out, at absolutely no cost, the sorts
of things we get up to before deciding if our WI is for them.
As many of our members enjoy a good quiz, we will be entering a team or
two in the preliminary round of The WI County Quiz this month. It really
is the taking part that matters!
The Devon Federation, five years younger, celebrates its 90th anniversary
in 2010 and there will be a wide range of activities and events for members
throughout the county to attend during 2010. On 16 February they are holding
a Fun Day at Filleigh Village Hall, when, after lunch, Dominic Goodwin
will entertain with words and songs by Noel Coward.
The very next day we will be lunching much closer to home, in The Torrington
Arms. This is our own ' post-Christmas do' which is becoming quite a tradition.
Just when we've worked off those extra pounds we gained at Christmas too!
