World War 1 Story.

1963 November 23rd
Edmund Adams is now 63; he is sitting down talking with his grand-son Stephen and daughter-in-law Bronia. He is enjoying a delicious bowl of tomato soup, a strong coffee and his diary from the First World War.
"Grandad, what was it like in the trenches?" asked Stephen.
"It was so horrible, there were things that no sixteen year old should've witnessed like..." Edmund caught the look Bronia gave and moved on. "There was this one particular moment when a gas shell landed no more than three yards away from my post. Yes, I remember that clearly."
