D of E Update

Tuesday 9 June saw the Great Torrington School and Open Duke of Edinburgh award groups Ten Tors presentation evening. The night started at 6.30pm in the school's new drama studio when the seats were full of participants, family, friends and guests. The night was started off by an opening speech by Mr Nick Muir welcoming the guests and a round up of the event. Followed by the presentation of certificates to the walkers of the 35 miles, 45 miles, 55 miles walks, the Jubilee challenge and National Navigation and also awards for all the walkers that trained. The awards were handed out by a representative on Dartmoor rescue Group Mr. J. Bowring. The night was a great success with lots of stories and tales of the walks; it all finished with a closing speech from Mrs. D Nicholson
There was a donation pot and a great £75 was raised so thank you to everyone who donated.
I would like to thank the special guests including Mr and Mrs Rawlinson and Mr and Mrs Martin who turned up to the presentation this year & made it a special night; well done to all the managers of the teams for their hard work and of course the walkers them selves
