Torrington Players
Many of you have been regular supporters of our
productions over the years and will share our sorrow at the death of actor
and director Stuart Rickard who was a lively and committed member since
joining us in 1987. He will be sorely missed.
On Saturday the 4 July, a few well known members of the Torrington Players
will be at The Plough at 10.15am to entertain you and help kick off the
start of The Torrington Music and Arts Day. Later that morning, others
will be in the Children's Section of the Library from 11am until noon,
reading poems and stories to any children who just happen to be there
or who've come along especially. We won't mind any adults having a surreptitious
hark either!
Our AGM is being held on Wednesday 15 July in the Conservative Club, South
Street at 7.30pm. We shall sandwich the important business part of the
evening between a rerun of the St George's Day Mummers play, performed
first at 1646 on a very blustery day with the wind carrying the voices
away in the wrong direction and an hilarious duet from Spamalot performed
by Liz and Simon.
We will be holding a pre-audition read through of Alan Ayckbourn's comedy,
"Improbable Fiction" on Monday 20th July at 7.30pm in the Plough
Gallery. This is the choice for our November Production and Liz Harris
has agreed to direct it. Liz last directed for us with "Sylvia's
Wedding" in 2007.
Prospective members will be welcome at all these events.
