As the season for BBQ's and cold tinnies arrives,
spare a thought for our poor film projectionists sweating in the projection
box while you sit in air conditioned delight. Did you know that two of
our regular projectionists are volunteers? I'd like to raise a public
cheer to Paul Bangay & Michael Taverner who give unstintingly of their
time and expertise to help make our ends meet. Look at the diary pages
here in The Crier for details of our 8 films.
If you have a pre-school child, why not fill a happy morning or afternoon
on 1 July with a visit to The Tin Forest, a delightful piece of puppetry
with no words, only a soundscape and live music.
Picnic rugs will be the order of the day at 1646 gardens on Wednesday
29 when Illyria theatre present Shakespeare's magical romp A Midsummer
Night's Dream. A once-only offer is yours for the asking on Friday 24
when the strangely attractive (?) talents of Fannying Around grace The
Plough stage (grace may have nothing to do with it - but you have to be
kind; they don't get out much). You'll know most of them - look at the
poster in the butchers- but you'd not believe that they're that clever.
All profits to North Devon Women's Refuge and The Plough.
Checky shirts and fringed skirts in abundance when the Plough Youth Theatre
meets Oooooklahoma! from 15-18 July (last 2 shows sold out - you've been
warned).
Finally we hope you haven't thrown away our insert about Torrington Music
& Arts Day on Saturday 4 July (well get over to that waste paper basket
and take it out!). From 10am 'til late we've lots of lovely treats around
Torrington for you, ending with a fund-raising family ceilidh for North
Devon Hospice and The Plough. Get baking now for the hospice cake stall!
