Torrington Cavaliers
Third Annual Scarecrow Competition
The Cavaliers are organising the Great Torrington
Third Annual Scarecrow Competition throughout the summer. We hope that
as many private householders, businesses and schools as possible will
make a Scarecrow and display it either in their gardens or outside their
business premises. If they don't have a garden or ground space the Scarecrows
can be fixed to the wall, hung from windows or even on roofs in fact any
where they can be seen and provide a good opportunity for visual display
and reasonable access for judging.
We would like the Scarecrows on display from Saturday 18th July through
until Monday 31st August. And they can be on any theme or subject of your
choice and each one or group must have a name. The entry fee is £5
for private householders. £10 for business premises and schools
are free. There will be various prizes in each group and points are awarded
for originality, quality, attention to detail and topicality, etc.
The entry forms and full set of rules will be available at Tattersalls
Property Management office 1, Castle Street Torrington from Monday 6th
July. Your entry fee must be paid when you pick up your entry form.
This is the third time Torrington has had a Scarecrow competition we hope
many people, businesses and schools in the town and local parishes, i.e.
Taddiport, Frithelstock, Langtree, Monkleigh, High Bullen, St Giles, Weare
Gifford, and Little Torrington will enter and contribute to making the
Town and surrounding district colourful throughout the summer and exceed
the last two years efforts.
