Pause for Thought
In the events over the last few weeks
that have taken place within the government and elections, how easy it
has been for us all to be critical and judgmental, yet for some we may
feel not with out good reason. Now think on these words by Kate Barclay-Wilkinson.
'May the mind of Christ my Saviour, live in me from day to day, by his
love and power controlling all I do (and think)and say'
I for one, who is a son and heir in Christ Jesus, can also find it most
difficult not to be critical or judgmental, causing me to fall short of
his example and teaching, and I am sure I am not alone.
When someone accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour the standards of our lives
are set higher, for we should be living to please Him in all we do, or
think, or say, and I can assure you it is not easy.
Living the Christian life is not just meeting together as a church on
Sundays or any other day, it is twenty four seven, putting it in modern
terms, living a life that is honourable to Him.
We can have much thrown at us within the world, lies deceit, corruption
etc. but for the Christian we have Jesus, who triumphs over all these
things, and in whom we can seek guidance and protection of body, mind
and soul on life's journey. The words by Kate Barclay Wilkinson are one
of my favourite hymns, and I must conclude with one other verse.
May I run the race before me, Strong and brave to face the foe, looking
only unto Jesus as I onward go.
