The Cavaliers 2010 Bonfire Story part 11

Anyone who has visited the Old Bowling Green will have noticed that the first poles have now been erected. These will support the rear turrets of the Castle and once more supplies are sourced then other turrets will be constructed at the front of the building along with draw bridge and portcullis supports.
Pallets are now coming on site ready for the infill, so that the bulk of the fire material can be put in place which offers the builders a secure, solid base to work from. Over the coming months cladding will be pre-painted ready for affixing to the front and sides, and various props, shields, banners, gargoyles etc will be sourced, hopefully from the various clubs and schools around the area.
The Union Jack is flying proudly over our building area (albeit upside down for a while - the culprit for this offence will be placed in chains and will be the first occupant of the dungeons, once constructed) keeping guard over our construction site and watching out for those thoughtless souls who allow their dogs to leave us messages, usually hidden in the long grass, and which you can be sure are discovered when you least expect it.!!! It is pretty disgusting!
The Mayfair build- up and celebrations diverted our attention away from the Bonfire for a few weeks and then of course there was our good friends Shaun and Loz's wedding! but we are now back on track preparing for this year's Scarecrow Competition, the World Championship Pumpkin Competition, training for The World Series, 20 / 20, cricket ashes trophy against our rivals Weare Giffard ( Sat June 20th) , a fund racing Race Night on 01st August and the other traditional things we get up to throughout the year.
So, very busy times ahead for The Cavaliers, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who offers us support, help and encouragement as we go about our tasks.
More next time
