New Mayor to open Memory Cafe in Torrington.

On 9th July, the new Mayor of Great Torrington, Councillor Sue Mills, will officially open a new cafe offering a friendly, informal and relaxed atmosphere for people with memory problems and their families. Held at The Methodist Church, Mill Street, Torrington on the second Thursday of every month, the 'Memory cafe` will be open from 10.00 until 12.00.
During opening times there will be a warm welcome from a number of Health and Social Care staff offering help by listening to concerns and looking at possible ways to overcome some of the difficulties experienced by sufferers, their families and carers. Alternatively this is a chance to socialise with other people in the same position, have a drink and relax.
The Senior Council for Devon have set up the cafe with the help of TorrAGE and the Community Health Team and any further information can be obtained by ringing the CHT on 01237 473049.
If you would like to attend and have any problems with transport please contact Torridge Community Transport Association on 01237 423232 who offer a subsidised transport scheme for eligible people.
