News from Torrington
AAC
Members of the running club have helped to raise
more than £200 for Children's Hospice Southwest. First we swapped
our trainers for wellies and enjoyed a mile long jog around the town,
causing a few raised eyebrows along the way
shorts and wellies
is not a good look, and not easy to run in either!
The wellie jog was followed up with an evening at Maya where the theme
was posh frocks and
you guessed it
.wellies once more! Sheila
Jenkins organised a great raffle and the whole restaurant happily supported
this worthwhile cause.
Five members of the club completed this year's Flora London Marathon and
raised thousands of pounds for various charities in the process.
A huge well done to Amanda Andrews, Dave Wenman, Sharn Kern, Lisa Curtis
and Tara Hodgkinson.
The Round the Tree Race, held as part of the Mayfair Celebrations, was
once again a great success and it was great to see so many fancy dress
runners who provided ample entertainment for a very supportive crowd!
Thank you to the Army Cadets and everyone who marshalled the course and
the owners of Oak Park farm, for their continued support in letting us
race through their farm and round the 'tree'! We look forward to doing
it all again next year!
