The Ruby Run,
Half marathon, will
be taking place this year on Sunday 14 June and Children's Hospice South
West has been chosen as the main charity to benefit from this popular
annual event, now in its 7th year!
John Allen, event organiser tells us more: "We always choose a local
charity to benefit from the event and this year we chose to support Children's
Hospice South West as the work that they do helps so many families here
in the South West. Two youth projects will also be benefiting from the
event and so we hope to raise as much money as possible. The event is
open to individuals and groups of six people to run the 13.1 miles. Walkers
are also more than welcome to take part and enjoy the beautiful scenery
from Hatherleigh to Holsworthy! I am pleased to say that this year our
main sponsor is Waitrose and so I would like to thank them and our other
sponsors for supporting this event and for helping to raise vital funds
for local charities. "
Children's Hospice South West is the only organisation in the region providing
specialist respite care for children who are not expected to reach adulthood.
Through its hospices - Little Bridge House near Barnstaple, North Devon,
Charlton Farm near Bristol, North Somerset, and eventually Little Harbour
near St Austell, Mid Cornwall - the charity cares for life-limited children
and their families, offering world class services and fantastic facilities
in a homely environment.
Ian Roome, Community Fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West says:
"This looks set to be another huge success this year and we are delighted
that the Ruby Run event organisers have chosen Children's Hospice South
West to benefit from the proceeds of the run. I would like to wish all
the runners good luck with their training and will see you at the finish
line!"
