Come on an Art Trek!

Art Trek is an annual event held as part of the North Devon Festival, where you are invited to visit artists and craftspeople in their studios all round North Devon. This year the event is even longer, taking place over two weekends in June, 19th -21st and the following week of 26th -28th June. As many of you know 14 The Gallery in the Pannier Market has been open for several years now and is run as a successful cooperative by 12 artisans who all live within the area. The cooperative idea is so catchy and workable that a further two cooperative Galleries have begun this year in Bideford and Barnstaple.
As part of Art Trek there will be four people showing their work in The Gallery, Jo Pryor who paints beautifully patterned, curvy women in gouache, Alison Nicholson who makes textured collages using recycled fabrics and materials, Sue Martin who makes fused and flameworked glass jewellery, objects and pictures, and Rosie Burns who is an "obsessive creative" and will have work on show in many media!
Come along to 14 The Gallery to collect the Art Trek Booklet which contains instructions for finding studios and useful information about wheelchair access and parking. Come to the Gallery to meet the artists, have refreshments at the Cafe opposite and perhaps sign up for a workshop in textiles. We will be open from 10-4 on each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Helen Bailes will be at home in her lovely cottage and garden in Peters Marland - Janet Jopson will be in Westward Ho!, and Maureen Stanley and Jane Templeman will be with friends in North Molton, we can direct you to them or other local venues. To find out more go to www.northdevonfestival.org or our website at www.14thegallery.com
While we're talking about the arts in Torrington, keep an eye out for information about a special art and crafts fair in the Pannier Market on Wednesday 26th August as part of the celebrations of the ten years the market has been reopened.
